I am sprucing up my home (again) and also having a de-cluttering session this weekend for a car boot sale (I also have some great car boot tips to share with you soon) and it got me thinking about the importance of de-cluttering & home organisation and the benefits it will have on your life by saving time & energy in the long term.
We all lead busy lives tying to fit in as much as we can and often time more that we can cope with. We have to be fast and we are always rushing around to keep on top of things that we are easily tempted to cut corners at times. For instance we might just throw those bills into the nearest drawer or toss our clothes on the floor after a hard day at work. Little do we realize that if we continue these bad habits we are surely creating havoc in our lives. Short term it may seem that we are saving some time on the spot but try retrieving these items in a hurry weeks later. One of the reasons we clutter at all is due to short term thinking.
On the other hand decluttering takes time and effort. But if you think of it; you are really creating a system that would make your life easy in the long run. Some of us are perfectionists who want to do everything right-or not at all. …So what do you do? You put it off and keep putting it off until we have enough time to do it properly. A good way to look at it instead is to think of functionality as opposed to perfection. It is a home you live in and not a museum. So you need to create a routine that suits your life style.
You also need to know that the end box is never empty. All you need to do is to keep on top of the clutter one bite at a time in a systematic and simple way so that you will keep up the good work. If you feel the job is too great for you and you do not know where to start get your family involved; ask your friends to help or you can always hire help from agencies such as Your Maid, but the point is: start today!
Once a systematised routine is set up all you need to do is maintain it and you will be on your way to an organised life. It is well worth it.
Benefits of being Organised:
• Less stress
• More time and energy
• Enjoyment of your possessions and surroundings
• Improve efficiency and productivity
• Motivation
• Cleared spaces, more space
• Better use of resources ..i.e, money, time, energy, space.
• It gives you the chance to enjoy the things that really matter to you!..Family, hobbies & careers
Remember a place for everything and everything in its place is all there is to it.
